Suggested itineraries.
Three day plans and one overnight plan, using places verified on the Batang Kali and Kuala Kubu Bharu pages.
Planning notes
Each plan is written as a sequence rather than a timetable. Please allow for travel time between stops.
The night market runs on fixed hours, 4pm to 10pm.
Plan one
The market day
Plan your visit for the 10th or 25th of the month, when the night market is held.
Arrive and settle
Spend time on the grounds. The river runs shallow over stones at the edge of the property, and the animals are a favourite with children.
Into town for the night market
Pasar Malam Batang Kali runs from 4pm to 10pm, a few minutes away. Enjoy dinner at the market.
Return before dark
The final stretch of road is unlit gravel and is easier in daylight.
Plan two
A forest park morning
Start early at one forest park
Choose Sungai Sendat, about 8 km, Kanching, about 17 km with seven tiers of waterfalls, or Templer, about 19 km. One park is ideal for a morning.
Check water levels and entry rates
Water levels can rise quickly after rain upstream. Entry rates at Kanching were revised in December 2024, so please confirm the current rate.
Return for a relaxed afternoon
Spend a quiet afternoon back at Laman Pok Nik.
Plan three
Up to Kuala Kubu Bharu
Drive up to the town
The historic town centre, rebuilt in 1928, is best explored on foot.
Explore the town on foot
Visit Dataran Warisan, the Back Lane murals, the lake park and Teng Wun Bakery for kaya puffs, all within walking distance.
Stop at the reservoir viewpoint on the way back
About 7 km from town, roughly eleven minutes. A roadside viewing stop only, and the view is partly obscured by vegetation.
Sungai Chiling requires a permit and has been open on weekends only since March 2025. Please check before you go.
Staying longer than a day
Tents and caravans are welcome on the grounds, making an overnight stay possible.
Plan four: an overnight stay
Arrive in the afternoon to set up and visit the river before dark. Cook outdoors, spend the morning with the animals, and head home after lunch.
Please bring all your own equipment and supplies, and check the facilities on site with Nik Hazmi before you travel. Arrive in daylight, as the final stretch of road is unlit gravel.
